Who this is for
Anyone whose work touches people data and who wants it to lead somewhere. You might build the data, question it, present it, or make the call it informs. Titles here vary enormously, and that's the point — what everybody in the room shares is caring that decisions about people get made well, and that the people on the receiving end are better off for it.
It's practitioners talking to practitioners. Our hosts pay for the room; they don't program the evening.
- You've had to explain a number to someone who didn't want to hear it.
- You've wondered whether the dashboard you built actually changed a decision.
- You're working out what AI means for your team, and you'd rather talk it through with someone than read another post about it.
No dues, no membership, no application. If any of that sounds familiar, you belong here.
What an evening looks like
Doors open with about half an hour of unstructured catching up. Then a short moderated conversation — plenty of audience questions, no slides if we can help it. Afterward people stay and keep talking. Most folks leave with two or three new contacts who do roughly the job they do.

About the group
An informal community around Washington, DC for people who work with people data.
We meet three or four times a year, usually on a weeknight, usually at a restaurant with a private room somewhere in DC or Arlington. A host company covers the food. Two or three speakers talk for a while, then everybody talks to each other, which is honestly the point.
There's no organization behind this and nothing to join beyond the LinkedIn group. It exists because the DMV has an unusual concentration of people doing this work — federal agencies, international institutions, contractors, associations, universities, and a growing set of HR technology companies — and not many places for them to compare notes in person.
Organizing committee
Four of us plan these, pick the topics, and wrangle the venues: Bin Xie, Jeff Mullen, Dr. Max Muge Bakkaloglu, and Nate Bjornberg. Any of us is a fine person to reach out to — profiles and LinkedIn links are on the Join us tab, along with how to join the committee yourself.
